Lindenhurst Park District Secures OSLAD Grant for Lewis Park

Lindenhurst Park District Secures $450,000 OSLAD Grant for Lewis Park Renovation

LINDENHURST, IL – 1/31/2024

The Lindenhurst Park District is thrilled to announce the successful acquisition of a $450,000 Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (ILDNR). This grant will play a pivotal role in the revitalization of Lewis Park, enhancing recreational opportunities and green spaces for the Lindenhurst community.

The OSLAD grant, awarded by ILDNR, is a testament to Lindenhurst Park District’s commitment to creating vibrant and accessible outdoor spaces for residents. Lewis Park, a cherished community hub, is set to undergo significant improvements thanks to this generous grant.

Highlights of the Lewis Park Renovation Project include:

  1. Playground Enhancements: The grant will fund the installation of a new playground and surface, providing a safe and enjoyable space for children of all ages.
  1. Multi-Use Sports Facilities: Lewis Park will see upgrades to its basketball and tennis/pickleball courts, encouraging community engagement in a variety of recreational activities.
  1. Landscaping and Green Spaces: A renewed focus on landscaping and green spaces will enhance the park’s aesthetics, providing a tranquil environment for residents to relax and connect with nature.
  1. ADA-Compliant Features: The project will ensure that all members of the community can enjoy the improved amenities at Lewis Park.
  1. Community Gathering Spaces: Lewis Park will feature upgraded picnic areas and gathering spaces, fostering a sense of community and social interaction.

2nd-8th Grade Basketball Games Cancelled Today

Due to an unforeseen circumstance, we regret to inform you that the basketball games scheduled for today, January 27th, will be cancelled. This decision has been made due to a small leak that has been discovered in our gymnasium. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding in this matter. Coaches will notify players with makeup game schedules.

Weather Update 1/12/24

January 12, 2024

Due to the severe weather and unsafe travel conditions, the Park District building will be closed today, January 12, 2024. All programs and activities are cancelled.

We are still planning for the building to be open with activities running as scheduled tomorrow, Saturday, January 13.

Weather Update-1/9/24

January 9, 2024

As a result of the weather conditions and the cancellation of afterschool activities in the surrounding school districts, we have made the decision to cancel the programs scheduled for this evening. However, the Before and After School Program will proceed as usual. It’s important to note that the building will close at 5:30 pm for safety reasons.

The following classes will not take place this evening: Jr Flag Football, Game Time Flag Football, Magic Class, and League Basketball practice.  We will contact parents with further instructions as soon as possible.
