Parks Day at the Capitol 2024
Exciting News from the Lindenhurst Park District!
Celebrating Parks Day at the State Capitol and Legislative Conference, May 7-8, 2024
This past week was extraordinary as we represented our community at the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield, IL, for Parks Day and the Annual Legislative Conference hosted by the Illinois Association of Park Districts. It was a wonderful opportunity for us, alongside other Illinois Park Districts, Special Recreation Associations, Municipal Park and Recreation Departments, and Forest Preserves and Conservation Districts, to showcase the importance of what we do, highlighting the importance of Creating Community through People, Parks, and Programs. The Legislative Conference allows participating agencies to attend educational sessions, panel discussions and meet their legislators.
From the moment we set up our colorful display at the Capitol, it was a day filled with engaging conversations, discussing and highlighting everything we do best! We captured fun moments with our visitors, encouraging them to “strike a pose” for a chance to win some Park District goodies, all while connecting with colleagues and legislators’ from all over the state.
We were proudly represented by Executive Director, Dave Mohr Jr., Director of Recreation, Kate Kotloski, and Director of Marketing and Communications, Kathy Kohler.
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us and allowed us to continue making a difference in our community. Here’s to more opportunities to grow, serve, and connect! #LindenhurstPride #ParksDay #MakeMemorieswithus #loveyourparkdistrict
