Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu 101
This is an introduction to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. If you've always wanted to try martial arts, but didn't know where to start, this is a fun and controlled environment to begin in. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is known as the "Gentle Way." Its emphasis is technique more than size and strength. That's why someone who is skilled in Jiu-Jitsu is able to manage working with someone much larger than his/herself. It is a tremendous confidence builder and can greatly help the practitioner's management of stress, not just in competition, but in everyday life as well. The introduction to this class will be an EXTREMELY SAFE learning atmosphere. It will provide the foundation for self-defense. There are individual and partner exercises that will be conducting during the program. There will lots of opportunities for discussion. You must wear sweatpants/warm-up pants or shorts with knee guards. A t-shirt is suffice, but if you have a tighter performance shirt (Under Armour or something like it, short or long-sleeve shirt) that would be preferred. Boys, there will be lots of moving around on the ground and an athletic supporter with protective cup is advised. Please bring a towel and water bottle.
Session 2 will build upon Session 1, but some of the same information will be reviewed in both sessions. You do not need to take part both sessions to be part of this class.
